The Otago Volts fell to a 28 run loss against the Central Stags in a twenty/20 match in Nelson tonight.

Central won the toss and batted and amassed 170, with Peter Ingram top-scoring with 43, while Doug Bracewell and Kieran Noema-Barnett chimed in at the end.

Otago never got going in reply, and after Brendon McCullum was out in the second over, straight after hitting Bracewell for a six, Otago simply lost wickets too quickly.

It eventually limped up to 142 after some lusty hitting by the tail-enders, with one Bracewell over going for 22 runs.

With the win, Central went top of the table, although it will be shortlived with the winner of the match between Canterbury and Auckland meeting in Rangiora tomorrow taking over the leadership of the HRV Cup.
