England will play Australia in a Women’s T20 World Cup final everybody saw coming.

They are the two best teams in the world and always seemed destined to meet in the title decider.

England brushed aside South Africa in the semifinal yesterday.

Seasoned all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt, who was returning from injury, clobbered 75 from 47 balls and combined in a devastating 133-run stand for the fourth wicket with veteran batter Heather Knight (58 from 47).

The pair helped England get through to 169 for five.

Marizanna Kapp (one for 16) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (two for 25) were the pick of the South African bowlers.

Mlaba accounted for both Sciver-Brunt and Knight.

South African opener Tazmin Britt scored 51 from 45 at the top of the innings.

But England produced a solid bowling effort to restrict their opponent to 129 for eight.

Charlie Dean (two for 31), Lauren Bell (two for 28) and Sophie Ecclestone (one for 21) helped secure the 40-run win in London.

England are unbeaten at the tournament but will face a formidable Australian team in the final.

They dispatched the West Indies by eight wickets in the other semifinal earlier in the week.

They are also unbeaten at the tournament.

Australian opener Beth Monney smashed an undefeated 61 from 36 balls in the semifinal, while all-rounder Ashleigh Gardiner claimed two for 13 and whacked 35 not out.

The final is at Lord’s and gets under way on at 2.30am on Monday (NZ time).
