Otago back-up wicketkeeper Max Chu keeps getting opportunities for New Zealand teams.

The 18-year-old has been named in a New Zealand XI which will play Bangladesh in a two-day warm-up game at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln this weekend.

It is the third New Zealand XI in which Chu has been named this summer and this time he will be joined by a familiar face - his old school buddy.

Otago left-armer spinner and Ben Lockrose has also been named in the side.

The pair played together at Otago Boys' High School and are part of an exciting group of emerging players in the province.

Lockrose might not see a lot of the ball early on, though.

The New Zealand XI boasts an exciting pace trio. Central Districts speedster Adam Milne will lead the attack which also features Canterbury's Ed Nuttall and 21-year-old Wellington Firebirds paceman Ben Sears.

Northern Districts batsman Bharat Popli will captain the side.

''We've pulled together a competitive side which features a number of our under 19 World Cup players from last year and they should give Bangladesh a quality hit-out ahead of their three-test series against the Black Caps, which starts next Thursday in Hamilton,'' national selector Gavin Larsen said.

''It will be exciting to see how the pace-bowlers go as they are three of the quicker guys on the domestic circuit and will be keen to test themselves against international opposition.

''We're especially looking forward to seeing Adam with the red ball in his hand as he continues his bowling progress after a positive return in the Burger King Super Smash.

The two-day match starts on Saturday and will be live-streamed.

No players selected for round five of the Plunket Shield were considered for the team.
