Going through their paces

Oamaru senior rider and coach Janelle Gibson, on King Curtis, competes for the North Otago-Waimea Navy composite team at the three-day Springston Trophy in Oamaru on Friday.

The event, which began yesterday, is dubbed the biggest pony club meeting in the southern hemisphere and has attracted 40 teams from around the South Island this year.

After the first day’s dressage, Halswell Crusaders led the way with a score of 120.46.

They were followed closely by View Hill Red on 120.88, and Kaiapoi Black was third on 125.39.

The event continues today with the cross-country, before concluding with tomorrow’s show jumping.
