Southern United has claimed its third win in a row.
The side beat Canterbury United 3-1 at English Park in Christchurch today thanks to a dominant second half.
After trailing 1-0 at the break, Eric Molloy levelled the score in the 57th minute with a goal from 25m out. Stephen Last added a second seven minutes later, giving Southern a lead to defend for the final third of the game.
Canterbury struggled to create chances and after having a penalty shout turned down, conceded a third when Molloy finished on the counterattack to net his fifth goal of the season.
The win takes Southern to 10 league points, closing the gap on eighth-placed Hawke's Bay United to two points.
