Four-shot margin for McRae

Carding three twos during the 36 holes helped Liz McRae  take individual honours in the women’s champion-of-champions event which was played over 36 holes at Balmacewen yesterday.

McRae shot a 7-over-par 80 in the morning but finished strongly with a 75 in the afternoon for a four-shot win over Susan Greig (St Clair).

McRae started her afternoon round with bogeys on the third, fifth and sixth holes but made a birdie two on the seventh.

From that point she had two birdies and two bogeys to come back equal to par on the final 12 holes.

Greig was one off the pace at lunch and finished her afternoon round with two birdies but that was too little and too late to catch McRae.

Bev Mee (Wanaka) took the bronze division gross honours which helped the Wanaka Club to win the stableford rosebowl  with 55 points.

St Clair came in second place with 54 points in a teams event which is used to rate club teams nationally.
