Brandon Hodgson (Otago) and Samson Kim (Queenstown) were the big winners when Otago selectors Ben Gallie (convener) and Greg Johnson named an eight-man team to compete in the South Island interprovincial teams tournament at Balmacewen on November 3 and 4.
Hodgson has been elevated to No 3 after qualifying well and almost making the semifinals of the Otago championship taking New Zealand No 1 Vaughan McCall to the fifth play-off hole before going down.
Kim, a 16-year-old schoolboy from Queenstown, showed nerves of steel sinking a pressure putt on the last green to force a play-off with Michael Smith.
Tony Giles will play at No 5 after making the final of the senior plate while another Queenstown schoolboy Jamie Anstiss comes into the team at No 8.
The only casualty after the championship weekend is Mark Collie (Chisholm Park) who has been demoted three places after failing to qualify and then losing in the third round of the senior B event.
