Netball: Phys Ed suffers shock loss to Columba

The quality of Dunedin club netball suffered at the weekend as retired players, coaches and even umpires were forced to take the court for teams missing personnel due to tertiary holidays.

The disruption was reflected in the results, the main casualty being Phys Ed A which suffered a shock 44-43 loss to Columba Senior A.

The schoolgirl team deserved the win as Columba shooter Bridget Thayer dominated the shooting circle.

Uni-Albion A had a convincing win over Southern B 63-36, with Uni-Albion defender Louise Thayer, older sister of Bridget, having an equally dominant role in her circle.

Southern A overcame a strong challenge from College A, eventually prevailing 66-55.

College's fate was sealed with a poor third quarter. More disruptions will likely occur for the next three weeks due to school holidays.
