Former brothel owner Logan Campbell was upset in his first round match, going down to unseeded Ukranian Hryhorii Husarov 10-6 - two head shots in the final round his undoing.
In the other match of the day for the Kiwi team, Robin Cheong lost to a highly vocal Hedaya Wahba of Egypt 17-6.
Cheong was unseeded in the tournament, while Wahba was ranked third, so the result was somewhat expected.
