Pacer at All Stars

Otago pacer Titan Banner will team up with the best stable in New Zealand this weekend, his trainer and part-owner confirmed yesterday.

The 4yr-old will join the All Stars Stable operated by Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen for his Harness Jewels campaign, Graeme Anderson said.

‘‘Considering he's got no others in the 4yr-old series, and [Purdon] is the best in the world, so I thought I'd give him a chance,'' Anderson joked.

With Have Faith In Me taking a break until the spring, Anderson said Purdon was very receptive to the idea of training the son of Art Major for the Harness Jewels. Fellow All Stars runner Alta Ronaldo is still inside the top 12 on the leaderboard but was sidelined by injury in December.

Anderson said the connections would figure out the post-Jewels training situation after Queen's Birthday weekend.

‘‘If he wins about 10 in a row, we might leave him there.''
