Prices poised for home success

Corks are set to pop for trainers Katrina and John Price at Winton today.

The trainers will start Flash Party, a daughter of former top racemare Champagne Party, in today’s graduation final on their home track.

They also line up fellow 3yr-old Repartee, an excellent prospect in race 2.

Flash Party does not look out of place in a strong field in race 7 after her highly impressive debut win at Winton last month.

"She seems to have come through that nicely.  She had a let-up and she had a workout last week in preparation [for today]," Katrina Price said.

"Win, lose or draw she will go to  the spelling paddock."She has still got a lot of maturing to do physically. She is just a slight wee thing.

"We will just see how she comes up but if she improves like we think she could then hopefully she will have a nice season, next year."

Flash Party went to the line untested in her workout, won by James Butt, who went a good race for third at Forbury Park on Thursday night.

She will start from barrier 3 which should be to her advantage early.

Alfie Romeo’s good effort to run fifth in the Southland Oaks makes her the horse for Flash Party to beat.

The filly charged home into fifth after a luckless run.

However, she has drawn barrier 7.

Last-start winner Black Ops also looks a big danger, but he must overcome drawing the outside of the mobile arm.

The Clark Barron-trained pacer ran to an easy win, defeating race rival Cool Scooter, at Invercargill last weekend.

Another race rival, Dangerous, was also a good winner at the same meeting.

Dunrobin may get under the guard of punters in today's graduation final.

She ran a last-start ninth placing on Diamonds Day  when unable to work into the race from four back on the markers.

Repartee has an excellent chance to win against a field lacking in form in race 2 today.

Her chances could depend on whether she turns up to the races in the right mood.

If she was able to replicate her effort in the Southland Oaks final, Repartee would be very hard to beat.

"She has got the ability there but doesn’t always try," Price said.

"I thought her run in the Oaks wasn’t too bad."
