The 3yr-old filly began racing on December 31 and she won her first three starts at Rangiora, Motukarara and Invercargill before finishing fifth at Winton on March 17 at her last start.
She was found to have an infection after that race.
"She had a bad viral infection, akin to equine glandular fever," Dolan said.
"She lost a massive amount of weight and she was out for three and a-half weeks."
Dolan said Castellina Lover was now really good, health-wise.
"It is remarkable how good she looks," he said.
"She is possibly short of a run but I am hoping that her class will prevail," he said.
"She had a trial at Addington on May 28 and she finished fourth, without being askedfor a serious effort."
Leading reinsman Dexter Dunn continues his association with Castellina Lover.
Castellina Lover is booked on a flight to Australia on June 26 to contest the Queensland Oaks on July 7.
"If she goes well in Brisbane and depending on flights we will then look at the Victoria Oaks," Dolan said.
Dolan is a part-owner and former trainer of Dream Out Loud who is in a heat of the Parklands Cup at the Gold Coast tomorrow night. Dream Out Loud, now trained by Luke McCarthy, was a last-start winner at Menangle in 1.54.4 on May 29. It was his third start in Australia.
"He [Dream Out Loud] had a lot of trouble with greasy heel and Luke has put in a lot of working getting him right," Dolan said.
Dream Out Loud is off 20m and has Didjamakem Bolt among his rivals. The Mark Purdon-trained Didjamakem Bolt, who has two wins and a second from three starts, all at Addington, is the drive of Kylie Rasmussen, a sister of Natalie, who has made her mark in New Zealand this season by driving O Baby to group one wins in the Sires' Stakes Championship and Harness Jewels.
Purdon has Best Deal Yet (Kylie Rasmussen) and Minnie Moose (Luke McCarthy) in the other Parklands Cup heat.
