Orange will partner two of the day's most promising pacers as the Waimate club comes to Oamaru to race on the grass track.
After a successful career in the second sulky at Mark Purdon's stable, Orange joined Ken Barron this season and has remarkably improved, sitting second behind Dexter Dunn on the national premiership with 69 wins.
He partners the unbeaten McArdle Star (race 7) and Mighty Major in the Waimate Cup and is certain both can win - as long as they handle their first standing starts.
McArdle Star was a huge winner at Addington last start and would only need to get away on terms tomorrow to repeat that, but Orange knows with his debut standing start being over just 2000m there is little room for error.
''He isn't the cleanest pacer but he is sensible so I think he will be all right,'' he said.
''If it was a mobile start he would be a shot's eye.''
Mighty Major's opposition contains more depth, including last-start winner Star Of Dionysis and Quick As A Trick, the latter having pushed Tiger Tara close at Addington last start.
''One thing about Mighty Major is he will love the distance. And again, I think he will be fine from the stand because he is well behaved. But you never really know on raceday.
''In saying that, he is a tough horse who can make his own luck so if he does settle back a bit it might not bother him.''
The 3000m distance gives Quick As A Trick time to overcome his 20m handicap on the roomy grass circuit and he beat similar opponents in the Waikouaiti Cup three starts ago, his 10m penalty for that largely irrelevant.
The other highlight will be Waimate's best horse, Valmagne, returning from his northern campaign, where he was placed behind the likes of Stent at group level, to contest the main trot off a giant 50m handicap.
