Logan James has joined the Invercargill stable of Jack and Jo-Ann Gordon in quest of the Great Western Steeplechase.

Logan James ran fifth in the Western last year after falling at the last fence and being remounted. He had been sent south by his Cambridge part-owner, Graham Falconer.

Logan James won the 2010 Manawatu Steeplechase when trained by Ross Elliot, who shifted to Australia.

Logan James, who has not raced since September, resumes on the flat at Invercargill on Sunday. He is still a maiden for flat racing. The Western is at Riverton on May 13.

• Ataahua Dreamin outsped his rivals by nine lengths in a 1000m trail at Rangiora yesterday.

It was the second win in as many trials for the un-raced Pins-Just A Dream 3yr-old gelding trained by Jason Bridgman.

• Bangalore Bullet, winner of the Dunedin and Gore Guineas, has been sold out of the Riccarton stable of Shane Kennedy to Hong Kong. Bangalore Bullet has been bought by clients of the stable of Caspar Fownes, who will also train the former Otago galloper River of Riches.

Champagne Ransom, winner of the 2010 Dunedin Guineas was also sold out of the Kennedy stable to Hong Kong. Kennedy, now with Anna Furlong as a training partner, has Keep The Conflict in the Lightning Handicap at Trentham on Saturday.

Buddy Lammas, who rode Final Touch to an impressive win at Wingatui on Saturday, has retained the mount in the Lightning.

The John and Karen Parsons-trained Final Touch will be accompanied to Trentham by Asavant, Santos and Semper Plus.

Asavant, a maiden winner over 2000m at Riccarton last Friday, is to start in the New Zealand Oaks. She is a daughter of Zabeel and the first foal of Pins 'N' Needles, who won the 2007 White Robe Lodge Handicap and Timaru Cup when trained by the Parsons. Asavant is raced by Karen and Willie Calder, of Roslyn Bush, who race Pins 'N' Needles.

Santos is in the NZ St Leger (2500m). The No Excuse Needed-Carinda gelding won over 2400m at Trentham in December and finished second to Guns At Five in the Summer Cup (2400m) there in January.

• Firelight and and Diamond Jules have been retired out of the Parsons stable at the mandatory 120 days after being served.

Firelight (five wins) was covered by Swiss Ace. Diamond Jules (eight wins) is in foal to Edenwold.
