"He is doing everything right," Michael Pitman, his trainer, said yesterday.
Milo has been quartered at Waikouaiti since his outstanding win in the Dunedin Guineas (1400m) on February 5. He narrowly won the Gore Guineas last month. The bonus is for the winner of the three races.
"We have had some huge offers for the horse but nothing will be considered until after the Southland Guineas."
Pitman said to collect a $100,000 bonus in addition to the $28,125 winning stake tomorrow would be the equivalent of winning a group one race. The winning stake for the gr two Avondale Guineas tomorrow is $51,000.
Pitman produced the first three home in the Dunedin Guineas with Conscious Mistake and Miss Maximuss in the minor placings. They are again among the rivals for Milo.
He also has Coup Ay Tee, Coup Tagonal, O'Canny in the field and Coup Overbaked an emergency for the race.
"They will all be there. They all deserve a chance in the listed race," Pitman said.
The Glitzy One was running on for fifth in the Gore Guineas (1355m) suggesting she will find 1600m to her liking tomorrow. Her dam, The Jewel, won the Southland Guineas in 2003.
Biman, who ran third to Borninthestates and The Pearler in the Invercargill Cup in December, could come into his own when the race is staged for the second time this season. The distance is 400m longer at 2600m but the first two horses are absent.
Biman ran on strongly for a close third to Borninthestates and Trilogy in the Dunedin Cup (2400m) at his most recent start.
Chase The Sun, who overcame a late check to finish fifth in the Dunedin Cup, should measure up.
The topweight, Relampago, has won the Invercargill Cup in 2008-09.
