Veste emulated her dam, Coburg, with a group one win in the Caduceus Club Classic for 2yr-old fillies at Alexandra Park last night.
Veste is by Christian Cullen from Coburg, who included the group one New Zealand Standardbred Breeders' Stakes at Addington in 2004 among her 10 wins when trained by Mike Berger. Coburg (Falcon Seelster-Vicario) also won six races at Alexandra Park for the Coburg syndicate, who race Veste from the stable of Mark Purdon and Grant Payne.
Veste held out stablemate Dancing Diamonds by half a neck.
Veste is the third foal of Coburg, a half-sister to Stunin Cullen. Their dam, Vicario, is a half-sister to Il Vicolo, winner of the New Zealand Cup in 1995 and 1996 when trained and driven by Purdon.
He drove Julie Vance to win the Caduceus Classic in 1987 and the 1995 winner, Party Party, both trained by Roy and Barry Barry Purdon. Mark trained the 1996 Caduceus Classic winner, Megaera, driven by Tony Herlihy.
The stable won the previous race with Pocaro, who went off stride in the middle stages and dropped out to the rear of the field.
Pocaro is facing being named an emergency for the Interdominion series which begins next Friday.
Purdon also drove Black Frost to an upset win for trainer Alex Goryl.

His two mounts, Golden Crown (race 2) and Count de Loree (race 7), will be ridden by Lisa Allpress.
Taylor, who put two discs out in his back, will be sidelined for at least a week. He would not have been riding next Saturday as he is getting married.
• The Bart Cummings-trained Precedence will miss the Sydney autumn carnival. The 5yr-old has been sent for a spell after his fifth to Shocking in the Australian Cup last Saturday.
