Woodlea DJ, a dashing first-up winner at Forbury Park last night, is a special horse for Rangiora part-owner Sharon Twidle.

"She is very special as she named after my sister (Debra Joy Seal) who died of breast cancer in 2007," Mrs Twidle said.

"We had been breeding from the dam of Woodlea DJ."

Thomas Twidle, husband of Sharon, bought Secacus, the dam of Woodlea DJ on behalf of Sharon and Debra at an Auckland broodmare sale in 2004.

The New York Motoring-Dainty Kim mare had left three foals without a winner. She has left four winners from four foals since she changed ownership.

She is also the dam of Woodlea Glenn, Live Dangerously and Woodlea Legend.

Live Dangerously won four races for the Twidles before he was sold to Australia. Woodlea Glenn was sold after one win.

Woodlea Legend, who is spelling, has won four races.

• Salute The Monarch, a three-quarter brother to Stylish Monarch, led throughout a maiden trot last night.

The 5yr-old is raced by Cannington breeder Anne Patterson and trained by Murray Tapper.

The same connections have Stylish Monarch, the winner of 17 races and $499,819.

Stylish Monarch, who has not raced since finishing second to Vulcan in the Dullard Cup at Melton in February, is due to resume racing at Addington on October 5.

"He went well at the trials on Tuesday for fourth behind I Can Doosit," Tapper said.
