Flanagan claims silver medal in national club senior sculls

Dunstan Arm rower Jacob Flanagan gained a second at the New Zealand Championships at Lake Karapiro yesterday.

Flanagan won a silver medal in the club senior sculls at Lake Karapiro in chilly conditions.

In the senior double sculls, Dunstan Arm managed a gallant fourth with Simon Smith and Greg McLachlan teaming up to row a competitive race.

There were some good results for Otago in the under-19 double sculls.

Gabby Hunter and Josie Cook, rowing for Otago University, finished second in their heat while the  Dunstan Arm crew of Macaela Turfus and Jasmine McIntosh were first in their heat.

In the under-19 double sculls southern crews performed well in their heats.

The Oamaru crew of Logan Docherty and James Scott, along with Otago University crew of Ben Mason and Thomas Ryan, finished in the top two of their heat.

Oamaru pair Jack Smith and Brodie McNeil finished third in their heat in the same grade.

Former Oamaru rower Mark Taylor, who is now based at a regional performance centre, won the under-20 singles title.
