McBride (16), who goes to Kavanagh College, has been selected in the junior women's quad and Kearney (17), who attends St Kevin's College, will compete in the junior women's four.
The pair will spend 10 weeks on Lake Karapiro training and continuing their studies in the lead-up to the world junior championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on August 14-19.
The course in Plovdiv is located in the centre of the city and has held international rowing events before.
As it is also an Olympic year, the juniors will be joined by the seniors.
All the non-Olympic boats will also compete in Plovdiv.
The New Zealand rowers to attend the senior championships also include Otago rowers.
Lucy Strack will compete in the women's lightweight single and Alistair Bond will compete in the men's lightweight pair with Armin Svoboda (a Southern RPC team-mate).
The last time Otago had athletes in the junior team was in 2003 when Rosslyn Knox and Hamish Bond were selected to compete in Athens.
The South Island dominated the interisland regatta on Lake Karapiro over the weekend, winning nine of the 12 events.
