Alhambra-Union kept its play-off hopes alive with a dramatic last minute 11-10 win over University A in Dunedin premier club rugby today.
Peter Breen held his nerve and kicked the penalty goal from the sideline for the win.
Flanker TJ Ioane was in aggressive form and scored Southern's second half try to beat Harbour 23-0 in wet and muddy conditions at Watson Park. For photos of the game click here
The Kaikorai forwards gave their backline good ball when they scored seven tries to beat Green Island 45-7 at Miller Park.
Lock Blair Tweed dominated the lineout and tighthead prop Blair Laughton was dominant in the scrum and with the pick and go.
Flanker Shaun McCarroll was in magic touch and scored one of Pirates two tries when Zingari-Richmond was beaten 12-5.
Taieri came back in the last 20 minutes to score 17 points to beat Dunedin when Golden Oldie scrums were used.
Reserve hooker Henry Parker scored in the corner in the final minute and Haydn Parker kicked the conversion from the sideline to win the game.
Taieri beat Dunedin 22-20 to remain top of the Gallaway Trophy competition with 76 points.
It is followed by Dunedin 61, University A 49, Southern 51, Alhambra-Union 49, Kaikorai 41, Harbour 33, Green Island 28 , Zingari-Richmond 21 and Pirates 21.
