In a list crammed with powerhouses - St Kentigern, Hamilton Boys', Christ's College - it is impossible to miss the Blue Mountain College name.
Stark, who played for South Otago High School in the Highlanders First XV competition as well as for the Otago Country senior team, is the only player in the squad from south of the Waitaki.
The speedy outside back will be in contention to play Australia, Fiji and Australia A in Sydney next month.
It is a remarkable achievement, considering the size of his school. Stark (17) will be the first New Zealand schools rugby representative from Tapanui's Blue Mountain College, which has just 206 pupils, spread from years 7 to 13.
''I'm pretty chuffed,'' Stark said yesterday.
''It's a huge honour. A bit of a dream, really.''
Stark, the head boy at his school, knows two of his team-mates, Christ's College pair Harry Peeters and Damian McKenzie, both of whom were originally from the South. But he is excited about getting to play alongside some of the heavyweights from the North Island schools.
He has already been offered a contract by Otago, and plans to study carpentry in Dunedin next year while pursuing his rugby career.
Otago Boys' High School produced an outstanding effort to return to the national First XV semifinals this season, but that did not promote any of its players to the schools team.
Its consolation was the selection of prop Jermaine Ainsley, hooker Sekonaia Pole and midfielder Sio Tomkinson in the schools barbarians squad.
Hamilton Boys' High School clinched the New Zealand schools title by slaying the giant on Saturday.
Hamilton Boys' beat St Kentigern, which had been unbeaten in 52 games over 26 months, 12-10 in Hamilton.
