The Chiefs will play a marquee home fixture at Mt Maunganui next season, the only one of eight home Super 15 rugby matches to be played outside their Hamilton base.
They will play the Crusaders at Bay Park Stadium on April 15, avoiding a clash with the V8 Supercars motor race which will be held in Hamilton that weekend.
"This is a great opportunity for us to take this exciting game to our passionate supporters in Tauranga and it is recognition of the connection between the Bay of Plenty region and the Chiefs franchise," Chiefs chief executive Gary Dawson said.
The other seven home matches will all be played at Waikato Stadium.
The Chiefs have confirmed pre-season matches against the Highlanders at Taupo on February 5 and the Blues at Pukekohe on February 11.
