First five-eighth Pera Gibbs played his best game of the season to help Dunedin beat Varsity A 30-13 in the feature match of Dunedin club rugby today.

He relished the superb conditions at the University Oval to score 15 points with a try, two conversions and two penalty goals.

Dunedin gained an early 15-0 lead after 25 minutes but the students closed the gap in the second spell to 15-13, before Kaitu Kaufana scored a decisive try for Dunedin. 

The big upset of the round came when bottom placed Zingari-Richmond beat top of the table Southern 31-25 at Montecillo. 

Taieri scored six tries to beat Kaikorai 41-20 to remain the only unbeaten team after four rounds. Fullback Kori Rupene and wing Taylor Fiddes both scored two tries.

The accurate goal kicking of Peter Breen helped Alhambra-Union gain its second win of the season when Pirates was beaten 35-24. He kicked six goals and scored 15 points.

The scores were: Zingari-Richmond 31, Southern 25; Alhambra-Union 35, Pirates 24; Taieri 41, Kaikorai 20; Dunedin 30, University A 13; Harbour 26, Green Island 10.
