Cory Jane is back playing the game he was brought up on.

Jane (27) was in fine form on the right wing for the All Blacks last week, making plenty of breaks as part of a threatening back three with Israel Dagg and Joe Rokocoko.

He said it was great to once again get hands on the ball and not be afraid to run.

"It's always good to throw the ball around, give it a bit of air. Attacking rugby for this team is the way to go," Jane said.

"New Zealand teams have always had that ability and we showed it last week. When we get the ball, we look to attack. Other teams, they look to kick first."

He said it was great to get back to that style of rugby, unlike last year when the boot took over.

"That wasn't our game, that wasn't the way we wanted to play.

"But it was a defensive game. You'd get the ball and there'd be a whole wall of defenders in front of you. Now we get to run the ball, which is a bit more fun.

"That's what you start playing rugby for when you're young - to get the ball and run. That's what we did last week and all of the back three really enjoyed it."

Jane was strong on the run last week against the Irish, shrugging off a few players with an aggressive fend, throwing his 85kg frame around as the All Blacks racked up a record victory.

"There was a lot of running and I got a bit sore towards the end there. Getting a bit older so have to do a bit of work on the fitness."

Jane admitted the game at test level was a lot faster and more physical than Super 14, but the advantage was being surrounded by quality players.

"There is some real speed in the game but it is easier in a way as you don't have to look after anybody. That's not to say people in the Super 14 are no good, but it can be a bit easier here as you don't have to look after anyone else."

Jane, who played fullback for the Hurricanes, said he was happy on the wing, and never sought a game at fullback.

"I used to say fullback was where I wanted to play but now I don't mind. Wing is fine. I think the All Blacks are a bit bigger than Cory Jane."
