Otago Boys' High School 2nd XV claimed a hard fought 16-15 win over Dunstan High School in the latest round of the Southern Wide Real Estate 1st XV competition.

John Faulks, coach of Otago Boys', thought it was a good game in which neither side got the better of the other.

"It was a good game of rugby and it was very even. The two sides played pretty well and neither side really dominated," he said.

Otago Boys' led 16-5 after a first half in which Faulks believed their forward pack played well. He said the Dunstan forwards were good in the second, while also offering praise for their outside backs.

"Their outside backs played well and our forwards played not too bad in the first half, their forwards played well in the second," he said.

It was not just this that was close however, with Waitaki Boys' holding off Mt. Aspiring College 22-19 and St. Kevin's College pipping Taieri College 34-31.

John McGlashan College beat fellow Dunedin School, King's High School 27-10, while South Otago High School claimed a 27-10 win over Kavanagh College.
