Prop Jonah Aoina played powerhouse rugby and led the Otago Boys' High School blitzkreig at Littlebourne yesterday.
The Otago Boys' pack dominated the annual interschool first XV match that is the oldest interschool game in New Zealand rugby.
Otago Boys' scored nine tries as it beat Christ's College 60-8 on a soggy Littlebourne ground.
A feature of the game was the driving play of the pack.
The front row of Aoina, Alex Frood and Sione Asi were skilled with the pick and go.
They were backed by the loose forwards with No 8 Jamie Mowat having an impressive game.
Aoina was the strong man and used his brute strength to score three tries.
One of the best came after Mowat won the lineout on the Christ's College 22m.
The pack drove forward and Aoina used his strength to crash over.
The best Otago Boys' back was second five-eighth Sio Tomkinson who was strong on defence and goal-kicked accurately.
He kicked seven goals from 10 attempts and scored a try to notch up 20 points.
He has scored 122 points this winter and Otago Boys' has scored 72 tries and conceded just five.
Fullback Reece Mau'u was another key back and used his speed and support play to score two tries.
He also gained large hunks of territory with his punting.
Christ's try was scored by lock Ben Morris after a set move from a lineout close to the line.
Morris was the best Christ's College player.
He was backed by No 8 John Borland and flanker Alex Irvine.
Otago Boys' led 22-3 at the break and added six more tries and 38 more points in the second spell.
