Otago Boys' halfback James Arscott scored deep in injury time to help clinch a dramatic 24-17 win against John McGlashan College in the final of the Otago premier schools tournament this afternoon.

Captain and first five-eighth Tevita Asi got to hold aloft the Otago Daily Times Cup but it so easily could have been McGlashan skipper Leroy Ferguson with that honour.

His side dominated the majority of the second half at Littlebourne and led 17-10 with just 10 minutes remaining.

But Otago Boys' got an attacking scrum 5m out and Asi was able to bump a tackle and score close to the posts. Jake Te Hiwi converted to level the score.

The game seemed destined for a draw but a high tackle gave Asi the opportunity to plug the corner.

Otago Boys' attacked the line with Arscott eventually slipping over for the winner.

In the Championship final, Otago Boys' High School Second XV beat St Kevin's College 41-7 at Bishopscourt.
