Otago competitors netted eight more medals at the national short-course championships in Auckland yesterday.
Leading the way was Neptune’s Courtland Ellis, who claimed two golds in the men’s 17-18 years age-group.
In the 100m individual medley he swam 56.72sec to beat Lewis Clareburt, of Capital Swim Club, who finished in 56.98sec.
Ellis swam 23.02sec to win the 50m freestyle.
Erika Fairweather added another two medals to the four golds she had won already, bagging another gold alongside a silver.
She swam 2min 39.73sec to win the girls 13 years 200m breaststroke by more than 3sec.
However, she was pipped in the 100m IM by Australian Ella Ramsay, who swam 1min 05.84sec to Fairweather’s 1min 06.05sec.
Madison Wills, of the Kiwi club, finished second behind Fairweather in the 200m breaststroke 2min 42.76sec.
Zenith’s Tame Govaerts-Paul continued his impressive showing with a gold and a bronze in the men’s 17-18 years class.
He swam 2min 13.78sec to win the 200m breaststroke by more than 3sec, while also finishing third in the 100m IM in 57.07sec.
Geoffrey Kemp, of Neptune, claimed a silver in the men’s 15 years 200m breaststroke in 2min 25.59sec.
He also narrowly finished fourth in the 100m IM in 1min 01.20sec.
Neptune swimmers Molly Law and Jessica Scott both went close in the women’s 15 years 100m IM, coming in fourth and fifth respectively.
In the 200m medley club relay, Cecilia Crooks, Nicole Heaton, Sophie Wilson and Fairweather helped Neptune A to fifth place in 2min 03.67sec.
