Richard Hawkins made it two in a row when he won the Otago Trailer Yacht Championships on the Otago Harbour on Saturday.
He was the skipper of the Reprieve and used the light winds to his advantage to gain a decisive lead over Rory Godman's El Capone.
Hawkins also won last month's Otago Harbour Challenge.
His Otago Trailer Squadron yacht dominated the race from the start and won in 47min from Godman on the course at Portobello Bay.
Hawkins and his crew of Daniel Meehan, Alex Morris, Brett McCormick and Robert McCormick won the event by 16min from the St Leonards Yacht Club boat.
Reprieve sailed better in the light winds and Hawkins used this to his advantage to get control of the race.
The regatta was reduced from four races to just one race when the strong southwest wind blew up the harbour from noon.
The regatta was in three divisions, with the Otago Trailer Yacht Squadron boat Double Dark, skippered by Alex Bruce, winning the B division in a tight finish from Andrew Duncan (Challenger).
The crew of Alex Bruce, Karen Bruce and Brian Shanks won the race in 49min 23sec from Challenger in 49min 50sec and Neil Monk's Percolater in 50min 13sec.
Percolater led at the halfwaymark, but the fickle winds were its downfall, as the wily Bruce made more effective use of the wind shifts.
Skipper Russell Phillips used the wind shifts to his advantage to win the C division on the smaller boats in 49min 43sec on Chione.
He was followed home by Alan Sutherland, on Hot-C-F, in 49min 50sec and Graham Hoskins, on Ceiling Zero, in 50min 31sec.
