Led by artist and film-maker Lichen Sorrel, Found Studio will open next week at 125 George St with the aim of supporting visual storytelling, collaboration, and experimentation.
The space will provide accessible tools including lighting, backdrops, and props, enabling creatives to develop and produce content with minimal barriers at little to no cost.
Open to artists, students and community groups, the studio will support a range of projects including photography, video and music promotion.
Sorrel said in a statement the project was “about creating a welcoming space that encourages learning through doing and experimentation in the creative process, while promoting an open, outgoing approach to making meaningful content”.
Dunedin Dream Brokerage (DDB) has supported the development of the project throughout the proposal phase, assisting through broker facilitation and liaising with property owners and managers to help secure a suitable space.
Working alongside Sorrel, DDB broker Jessica Covell said it had been a privilege to support the idea and help bring it to life.
Found Studio will be open at 125 George St three days a week from May 11-June 21, and plans to hold a dedicated drop-in day where people can bring along concepts, receive guidance, and develop or shoot content on-site.
An opening event will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 5pm-8pm, and will feature a pop-up vintage market, a DJ set and an opportunity to experience the space.
