This Sunday a fresh chapter unfolds for Mosgiel’s Party in the Park, as it moves to a new location at Wal’s Plant and Fun Land.

The family friendly event began in 2006 as a fundraiser for the Mosgiel Memorial Garden children’s playground.

Party in the Park organising committee chairman Ian Chalmers said the event had flourished since then, and with the redevelopment of the memorial garden it had now outgrown that location.

An opportunity to move to Wal’s Plant and Fun Land not only ensured the event could deliver its usual amusements, but also allowed participants to enjoy entertainment on offer at Wal’s, including mini golf, a maze, a driving range and the Otago Miniature Road and Rail Society train rides.

People could also book meals at the Topiary Cafe and enjoy the beautifully landscaped gardens at Wal’s.

The free event will include food trucks, stalls, side show amusements, a bouncy castle, live music, face painting, balloon making, and Battle Combat laser tag for older children.

Local music will include Dunedin duo Sidewalk Sally, and the Dunedin Fire Brigade Restoration Society will add a unique touch to the day’s proceedings.

Visitors heading towards the entrance of Wal’s Plant and Fun Land at 109 Bush Rd will be guided towards parking options.

Additional parking has been organised in two adjoining fields.

While entry is free and the vibes are high, attendees are reminded that no dogs are permitted on the grounds.

Mr Chalmers said he was grateful to sponsors, volunteers and the local community who helped make the event a continuing success.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
