Dozens of volunteers are hard at work this week, transporting and unpacking tens of thousands of books at the More FM Arena, Edgar Centre, ahead of the Regent Theatre 24 Hour Book Sale.

The giant community event will be held tomorrow and Saturday, 10am-10pm each day.

Book sale co-ordinator Kath Wallace said Taskforce Green workers had been a great help in transporting the heavy boxes of books, as well as bric-a-brac, puzzles, games and art works, to the Edgar Centre for the sale.

"This year, we have a large collection of fabric on offer as well," she said.

Funds raised through the book sale will go towards important purchases for the Regent Theatre, which is run by a charitable trust, the Regent Theatre Trust of Otago.
