Bec (25) counsellor and Julian Prendergast (25) engineer - Christchurch

When and where did you meet?

We met in my first year at uni and Julian's second year at uni. It was just after the February earthquakes at UC in 2011.

The proposal

We go down to Queenstown every year to celebrate our anniversary, so it was nothing out of the ordinary. We decided we would go on a walk to Bob's Cove - one of the very first spots we went to as a couple. It was there beside the jetty he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

When and where was the wedding?

Our wedding was in Queenstown at Jack's Point. It was on the 27 May 2016.

Why did you choose the venue?

Queenstown has been a special place for us and we have spent a lot of time there together. There was no question about the location (Who would want to get married there!!). The venue was almost as easy! We had one other venue in mind but it wasn't us, Jack's Point is absolutely stunning. It has the best of everything, mountains, some water and serenity!

The dresses and suits

My dress was Maggie Sottero from astra bridal. It was the first dress I found online and the first dress I tried on in the shop. The bridesmaids dresses were brought in Melbourne - Im not sure what brand they are but the colour was stunning! The boys all had suits from Working Style.

Highlight of the day

It is hard to pick one highlight, it was all perfect. The weather was incredible, after weeks of torrential rain we had a day of blue sky, no cloud and no wind - amazing. The helicopter up to the snow was pretty special, the time alone was nice before a night of eating and dancing.

Our photographer

Jim Pollard! This guy is amazing. 3 weeks before our wedding our original photographer pulled out on us. I called, emailed and text Jim in a bit of a panic, he is normally booked out months/years in advance so did not expect the response we got. We had him trudging around a mountain peak knee deep in snow, needless to say his jeans and shoes were saturated afterwards (Sorry Jim!). He went well beyond what we expected on our day, and many of our guests were astounded at how discrete he was, almost ninja like! Our favourite photo - we have too many it is incredibly hard to pick one. One that has stuck closely for us was the very first one Jim released on social media, that same night once he got home!
