A casual country wedding set the tone for Rose and Bob Wilson.
When and where we met: Bob and I were introduced by my cousin Liz Jones and her friend Judy Keane. I was in Wellington and Bob farms just outside of Ranfurly. They thought we would be well suited, they were right because after lengthy phone calls and a couple of visits I moved down to Central Otago.
The proposal: The proposal came after our usual late afternoon routine of tending animals and as I was walking across the lawn back to the house Bob came up behind me and asked if I would be his wife.
The venue: We got married at the Oturehua Railway Hotel as we have family ties with the tavern owners Grahame and Liz Jones and we love the beautiful surroundings of the Ida Valley.
The dresses: My dress was simple and plain but pretty and went well with my cowgirl boots!
Flowers: I had red roses as red is Bob's favourite colour and with it being my name. My son Ben had a red rose button hole also.
We had no wedding party as such however my son Ben gave my hand to Bob and my sister Debbie and Bob's close friend Lincoln were witnesses to sign the register, my sister also helped me get ready.
The caterers: The catering was done by my cousin, this was continual finger food and plenty of it therefore our guests could still mingle enjoying food and drinks while a fire roared in the lounge bar.
Highlight of the day? The highlight of the day was the horses ‘Cody' and ‘Bruce' beautifully turned out in western gear by their owners Ngaire and Gary Hore. Bob had arranged this unbeknown to me, it was a wonderful surprise as both Bob and I share a love of horses and have ridden and owned horses before.
We were so lucky with the weather also and to have our families and close friends to share our very special day.
