Jenny & James Stowell married in Gore is a beautiful ceremony at the Calvin Community Church.

When and where did you meet: I was a teacher in Ashburton and his Mum ended up helping out in my room once a week for 4 years. :) So I got to know his Mum really well before him!

The proposal: One morning he arrived on my doorstep with a bunch of flowers and got down on one knee to propose. So we then jumped in the car and drove to Christchurch to buy the ring together and have a picnic in the Botanical Gardens.

Where was the wedding: In Gore at my parents church, Calvin Community Church

Why did you choose the venue: Because we are both Christians and wanted a church wedding. Also I was brought up at Waikoikoi, just out on Gore on a farm.

The dress: My dress was made by a dress maker in Methven. I tried lots of dresses on in Christchurch then went to her with two I liked and she drew a dress combining things from each. It was made of silk and had lace motifs all over it.

The bridesmaid dresses: I had three bridesmaids who wore purple dresses made by the same dressmaker. I had two flower girls who wore white dresses from purchased from Farmers, which we modified to include some of the purple.

The flowers: The flowers were from Rosedene at Campbell's. They were pink gerbera's. I had a few more than the bridesmaids and the flower girls each had one each.

The caterers: We used Country Manor Catering from Winton. There was so much food and everyone commented on how it was the 'best' food they had had at a wedding. Lots of variety and plenty for everyone!

Highlight of the day: The whole day! It went so fast!!! It was great to see lots of family and friends who had travelled from all over New Zealand to share with us in our special day!

Your photographer and favourite photo: Our Photographer was Elizabeth Weir. Oh favourite photo is on the family farm.... on the tractor.... wearing gumboots!
