When & Where We Met

We met a long time ago where we knew each other from around Balclutha. I moved to Dunedin to study and we met up again. From there, 12 years together later, we were engaged and preparing to get married.

The Proposal

We were on holiday in the Coromandel (Whitianga), which is a very special place close to my heart. My grandparents lived there, who we visited yearly for our holidays at their motor camp while growing up. In September 2012 Josh and I stayed at the same address but it is now an apartment complex. It was here that he proposed! This was very special to me as my grandparents are no longer with us.

The Wedding

Our special day was held on a private property (Tiromoana) on the stunning Catlins Coast. Josh was brought up by the sea in the Chatham Islands and I in the Catlins. Being by the sea is what he wanted and I wanted the amazing view. So Tiromoana made the perfect venue, with rolling hills on one side and the estuary, lake and sea on the other. After the ceremony our reception was held at the River Ridge Retreat, set in beautiful scenery and fantastic amenities. We were all set for the night.

The Dress

My dress was from Elite Bridal but I wanted it more customised. I had a few alterations made, including a new back with buttons, a new skirt, and some detailing added. It was beautiful.

Bridesmaid Dresses

Elite Bridal custom-made the Bridesmaid dresses as I had previously found a fabric I loved and knew exactly what I wanted in design.

Flowers

My flowers were ordered through Thanks a Bunch and handpicked at the market. They were then made up by Rosalie Scott and Mavis Davidson in Owaka. The flowers looked amazing, they made an incredible job of the bridal party bouquets. We could not have been happier with the job they did for us. Two ladies with amazing talent.

Caterers

We used local people for our catering. They came highly recommended to us, and wow, they did not disappoint. They listened to everything we wanted and outdid themselves with delivering it.

Highlight of the Day

There were so many highlights to our day… from seeing Mum & Dad's faces when they saw me in my dress, to my cousin driving Josh’s car to pick Dad and I up, to Dad walking me down the aisle to my husband to be.

These are all special things I will always remember, but most of all celebrating our wedding with all our friends and family who had travelled far and wide to be there with us. And our amazing wedding party, we couldn’t have done it without them.

The Photographers

Well, where do I start. These guys are absolutely amazing. I met with Kim a couple of times before the wedding to discuss different ideas. She was so helpful and nothing was a problem. She made it so easy to organise things. On our wedding day Kim and Liam turned up at 11am and were still with us at 10pm, missing nothing, and capturing all. They made us feel so relaxed and we had so much fun. Our photos are amazing. We could not have asked any more from them, and we couldn't be happier.
