A man has died after a plane crash at Matamata Aerodrome.
The light motorised plane was believed to have gone down shortly after 11am today in the rural Waikato town.
A Fire Service spokesman said paramedics performed CPR on the critically injured pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, but attempts to resuscitate him failed.
The spokesman said the plane had crashed at 11.13am, though it was too soon to say what the cause was.
The Civil Aviation Authority would investigate the incident.
