Bob Parker re-elected in Christchurch

Bob Parker has been re-elected mayor of Christchurch, according to progress results for the 2010 local election.

The result is based upon 98 percent of returned voting papers and does not include some special votes and voting papers returned today before voting closed.

According to the progress result, 68,245 votes were received for Mr Parker, while his closest rival, Wigram MP Jim Anderton, received 51,566 votes, a difference of 16,679.
