The team at Bowmont Wholesale Meats in Invercargill, where Mr Flynn is operations manager, is producing 60,000 sausages for what has been described as New Zealand's largest sausage sizzle.
Dairy co-operative Fonterra is marking its 10th birthday this month, hosting six regional events around the country on Labour Day, from midday to 4.30pm.
As well as the sausages, the shopping list also includes 80,000 slices of bread, 1800 litres of tomato sauce and 200 aprons for the farmers manning the 40 barbecues.
Bowmont Meats has supplied Fonterra's Edendale site for many years, but the sausage order "takes things to a new level". A team of six was working to produce 8500 sausages each day this week, Mr Flynn said.
Bowmont Meats, a family business situated in the heart of Invercargill, was started by John Flynn in the early 1930s.
The business prided itself on providing high-quality meat and specialising in the processing of "Hereford Prime" beef.
A Hereford Prime sirloin processed by the company was judged the best branded beef product in New Zealand at the Steak of Origin awards this year.
At Fonterra's Invercargill celebration at Anderson Park, Opshop frontman Jason Kerrison will perform, supported by Tokanui sisters Annah Mac and Kristen Macdonald.
