One of New Zealand's highest profile women sharebrokers, Noeline Munro was last night awarded the City of Dunedin Mayor's Business Personality Award.

Mrs Munro received her award at the Westpac Otago Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.

She is a New Zealand Stock Exchange Ltd (NZX) adviser with Craigs Investment Partners, involved in stockbroking and portfolio management. She holds an NZX Diploma, is an Authorised Financial Adviser and a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

After a brief stint at a local sharebroking firm, Mrs Munro started her own company which became part of Greenslades Ltd in 1993. She held the position of executive chairwoman of Greenslades while continuing to provide investment advice to her clients. Following the merger of Greenslades, Mrs Munro was appointed to the board of the Craigs subsidiary Investment Management Ltd.

Mrs Munro has spent most of her working life dealing with finance, responsible for everything from large wholesale portfolios to individual retail clients. She has a passion for education and working with people needing advice on savings and investments.

She was issued the New Zealand Women's Suffrage Medal in 1993 recognising her contribution to women in business. She has always been interested in the progression of women in business and other responsible positions.

Having previously been associated with both the Otago Chamber of Commerce as president, and the Otago Business Development Board as chairwoman, Mrs Munro is enjoying involvement with the Otago Community Trust. She has held and holds board positions in private companies and state-owned enterprises.

As a baby boomer, Mrs Munro is fascinated to be part of a generation breaking down expectations and assumptions of this group. As a grandparent and a full-time broker, she enjoys a balanced lifestyle reading, running and fitting in as many movies as possible.
