A fourth mobile phone company is set to launch a service in New Zealand.
The identity of the new company has not been revealed.
A spokesman said the company was looking to take on incumbents Telecom, Vodafone and TelstraClear.
Details of the new service were to be announced at midday.
In August TelstraClear confirmed it would take on Telecom and Vodafone in the country's highly competitive mobile phone market.
However, to get the new TelstraClear service, customers had to sign up with Telstra Clear to supply their broadband and home landline for 24 months.
The new company to be launched today was expected to offer far shorter contracts for deals other than pre-paid services.
