Kaan’s new building catering for growth

A new building for Kaan's Catering Supplies is taking shape next to the former Fonterra cold storage warehouse in Kitchener St, Dunedin.

Managing director Lindsay Kaan said the building would more than double the size of the existing site to around 8000sq m of coolstore and freezers, as well as facilities for more than 100 staff.

It features 23 concrete panels designed by artist Simon Kaan and cast by Balclutha company Balcrom.

The design includes panels depicting a Chinese translation of "Kaan's''.

Amalgamated Builders Limited project manager Ryan Cook estimated the building would be complete by February next year.
