Rakon sees annual profit in $25m-$30m range

Rakon Ltd said its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) this year should be within the $25 million to $30 million range expected by analysts.

Rakon manufactures electronic components that provide precision timing and are at the heart of modern electronic systems.

The company reported Ebitda of $4.3m in the year ended March 31. The Ebitda for the second half of was $7m.

The profit predication was made at the company's annual meeting today.

The company said its research and development spend of $10.5m was the same as the previous year.

"Part of this money, $1.5m, has been provided by the New Zealand Government and we would like to recognise their support for a business like Rakon and our place in assisting the growth of our nation's economy."
