It was a golden day in Cheviot last Friday.

The town’s businesses and school were bedecked in yellow for Daffodil Day, and business owners, shop assistants, customers, pupils and staff joined together to help boost the coffers of the Cancer Society.

Gifts and Finds owner, Tracy Findlay, hosted a stall on her frontage for the local Cancer Support group, selling daffodils, baking,  jams and sauces.

Business was brisk and its hoped town-wide to raise at least the same as last year — $3400 — or more for the Cancer Society.

“The community absolutely got in behind the initiative and also donated goods on the day.

“It is definitely a community thing. It is such a great place to live,” Tracy says.
