Vintage and classic vehicles will roll into Christchurch later this month as the Canterbury Branch of the Vintage Car Club joins the nationwide Daffodil Rally for Cancer, raising funds to support people affected by cancer across the region.

Local Vintage Car Club members, Ford supporters and Cancer Society supporters are coming together on Sunday August 23, for the 2026 Daffodil Rally for Cancer.

The event will feature a range of rally routes departing from Amberley, Rangiora, New Brighton, Cashmere and Rolleston before converging at the at the Vintage Car Club Grounds at McLeans Island for a public display from midday.

All funds raised will stay in Canterbury to support Cancer Society services across the region.

This year’s local rally is supported by Avon City Ford.

Avon City Ford Dealer Principal Richard Burns says the Cancer Society provides invaluable support to so many people across Canterbury, it is honoured to play a small part in helping that work continue.

Funds raised help the Cancer Society provide vital support services for people affected by cancer, including emotional and practical support, transport to treatment, accommodation during care and access to trusted information.

Cancer Society Southern Chief Executive Christine Prince. says every dollar raised through Daffodil Day helps ensure people affected by cancer can access the support they need, when they need it.

"We're incredibly grateful to the Vintage Car Club, Avon City Ford and everyone taking part in this rally for helping drive hope for people across Canterbury."

Rally coordinator Colin Hey says the event is as much about people as it is about vehicles.

"Many of our members have been affected by cancer themselves, or supported someone through it,” he says. “The Daffodil Rally is a chance for us to get our vehicles out, meet the community and support a cause close to many of our members' hearts.

"Our club is not just about looking after and driving our motoring heritage – it’s also about people showing up for one another and doing what we can to support initiatives such as this event."

The community is encouraged to come along and enjoy the display, meet vehicle owners, or enter their own special vehicle and be part of this year’s Daffodil Rally for Cancer.
