Buoyed by the growth and success of Cornhole in Christchurch, NC Sports is starting a group at MainPower Stadium.

The traditional American sport has grown in popularity and competitiveness around the world over the last 10 years, and NC Sports sees it as another good opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in physical activity with a strong social element.

Cornhole involves players throwing wheat-filled bags at a sloping board, with the aim of scoring points by getting their bag to either land, and stay on the board, or fall through a hole cut in it.

Games can be played as singles or pairs with strategies and scoring similar to lawn bowls.

NC Sports Cornhole sessions are at 10am on Wednesday mornings on the courts at MainPower Stadium. Cost is $5 per player for an hour, and all ages and abilities are welcome.

All equipment is provided so players just have to wear suitable shoes and take a drink bottle.

Depending on the level of interest going forward NC Sports may be able to add other morning sessions and will also look to start an evening session if regular court space can be secured.

At least initially these will be recreational/social sessions with more serious players having the option to join a Cornhole club in Christchurch if they want greater competition.
