More than 140 veterans and supporters gathered at the Rangiora Cenotaph on Tuesday, to remember the sacrifices made by those who fell serving their countries.

At the Rangiora RSA Veterans Day commemoration service, Rangiora RSA President Ian “Blue” Caldwell said that although the day was also officially remembering the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in Vietnam, the Rangiora RSA’s commemoration covered all veterans who served in many different countries.

As the veterans paraded, nine wreaths were laid by veterans and the Mayor of Waimakariri Dan Gordon, at the cenotaph, before last post was sounded and the roll call of veterans who had fallen was read out.
