It's been a chilly day for some Dunedin residents in lockdown after a power outage this afternoon.

Aurora Energy said power went out in Green Island, Abbotsford and Fairfield, after a circuit tripped.

An Aurora Energy spokeswoman said about 650 customers were affected, but by 4.45pm just three remained without power and Aurora crews were continuing to work to restore it.

“We apologise to customers who are without power, particularly given the cold weather.”

That wil be some of those hundreds of neglected power poles wobbling around and 'tripping circuits'. Thanks Aurora Energy, we look forward to paying the added costs. And thanks DCC for being so vigilant in your directorship of a public asset. And thanks Aaron for stepping in and addressing the issue that you had knowledge of whan you threw your hat in the ring. And a a HUGE thanks to Cull, I cannot say enough of your commitment to address problems within basic infrastructure paid for by your ratepayers. The leadership of this City makes me sick, just so out of touch it's almost funny....but it's not.
