With The Fireplace, Otago residents need have no fear of the coming cold snaps.
A visit to The Fireplace Ltd at 58 King Edward St, Dunedin, will soon replace seasonal chills with cosy comfort.
This welcoming showroom contains the region’s widest range of heating and lifestyle options all conveniently located under one roof.
Owners Robbie and Pam Gardiner and team are delighted to offer customers a comprehensive service, from advice on the best heating system for their home to securing building consents and carrying out the installation.
The Fireplace Auckland opened its Dunedin branch in a small St Andrew St showroom back in the late 1980s before shifting to Princes Street.
Initially Robbie began installing wood fires for The Fireplace, gaining comprehensive levels of technical knowledge. He progressed to manage the branch and became The Fireplace’s Regional Technical Manager approximately 30 years ago.
Robbie and his wife Pam purchased the branch in 2010, making it a locally owned and operated enterprise and it was then that they made the shift to their current site at 58 King Edward Street, and became agents for The Fireplace Auckland, which import the niche products Gazco, Stovax, Stuv, Visionline, and Jetmaster.

Along with these fires they also stock an extensive range of woodfires, gas, electric, pellet, outdoor, and are premier agents for the renowned New Zealand designed and locally made Escea gas and wood fires.
Their business focuses on the customer, providing end-to-end service for all aspects of heating. The team will identify the ideal fireplace, flue system, hearth, and accessories, either through an on-site consultation or by reviewing architectural plans.
Further possibilities are custom-designed hearths, flue systems, and bespoke components, all of which can be powder-coated and delivered directly to the customer for a seamless, tailored experience. They exceed standard solutions with in-depth, trustworthy technical expertise.
The core team of four handles sales, technical aspects, logistics, and warehousing. They co-ordinate with an amazing team of qualified local third-party installers for wood, gas, pellet, electric, and sauna installation.
‘‘This ensures our customers a high-quality installation that complies with all regulations and meets local council requirements,” Robbie said.

To this end they have expanded the show room to accommodate an exciting new range of lifestyle products, including luxury spas, their saunas and ice baths, barbecues, and smokers.
Having established strong relationships across New Zealand, they collaborate closely on projects with group home builders, architects, councils, certified installers, and leading manufacturers throughout the installation process.
The Fireplace Dunedin has therefore earned its reputation as Otago’s leading fireplace specialist and its portfolio has won design awards that are highlighted on the ArchiPro website.
“This carefully curated collection reflects their dedication to providing high-quality, year-round comfort and outdoor living solutions – all under one roof.”
The Dunedin Fireplace has been in the industry for well over 35 years, so they must be doing something right!
