Providing education with a difference

In July we farewelled Nicola Neal, who implemented a fun vibrant new feel to our college.

Nic's direction and enthusiasm poured into the college at a really fast pace and continues to absorb into our culture.

I have much delight in continuing with this vision of integrated project-based learning, leading an excellent tutorial team who excel in their collaborative teaching experience.

At Community College our focus is on providing engaging educational experiences for our students, injecting fun and exuberance into our activity-based learning culture.

Our students will graduate with a firm understanding of their strengths, in order to pursue their future achievements with confidence.

When I visit the classes each morning, I am welcomed by genuinely enthusiastic happy faces in all classes. The colour and excitement that filters through our college from our students is what makes the Community College environment such a privilege to work in.

The passion and dedication that our tutors have for their programmes is reflected in their carefully planned, practical and, above all, relevant activities.

Our students have had an amazing experience this year and immersed themselves in our community college culture.

Students have had the opportunity to experience real-life situations with a supportive team guiding them with such activities as attending Outward Bound; successful catering functions; My Café Rules (Willy Wonka styles); leading community groups on outdoor pursuits; My Kitchen Rules; engaging with community projects such as Kowhai Grove and creating dog beds for the SPCA.

Within these activities our students are given a leadership role where they have to plan and lead these activities. It's a great opportunity to gain confidence and transferable skills and positive feedback.

Community College is at the forefront of providing education with a difference.

The vision for 2018 will continue futureproofing our learning collectively.

We consistently ask ourselves, how can we continue to excel on this platform, allow for growth and provide exciting opportunities for our students? Well our programmes for 2018 will be indicative of that thinking and we look forward to welcoming our new students.

In the meantime, we haven't finished having fun and walking alongside our 2017 success stories.
